Rice had been a large role in Japanese diet, since 2000 years ago when a group of people called: Yayoi introduced it. The group Yayoi came from Korea and Northern China. Rice could be tended on a field less than an acre! Rice was suitable because of Japan’s climate. In the medieval period, land was owned by nobles or shogun.
